ICSI

ICSI, first used in 1992, is a technique in assisted fertilization that has revolutionized the treatment of male infertility and gives men with few sperm the chance to become a father. Using specialized equipment, mounted on a microscope, called micromanipulators, each oocyte is injected with a single sperm using a thin glass needle. ICSI is useful, in addition to cases of male infertility or low sperm count, for patients with repeated failed IVF, endometriosis, PCOS and when using frozen gametes.
